Porcelain

Porcelain stoneware, like Silestone, is a man-made synthetic stone. While natural stone is formed through geological processes, porcelain is produced from an atomized blend of clays, feldspars, and other additives, giving it a hardness comparable to quartzite. Thanks to its elegance and multiple advantages, it has become an increasingly popular choice for homes.

It is a low-porosity material, which makes it highly resistant to stains and easy to clean, specially in polished finishes. Its high density provides exceptional scratch resistance, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. One of its main advantages over Silestone is its thermal resistance: hot cookware can be placed directly on the surface. However, it’s important to note that polished finishes are less resistant to both scratches and heat, so the choice between polished or matte will depend on the intended use and level of care.

When it comes to design, the variety is extensive. With different porcelain brands available, you can find everything from finishes that realistically replicate natural stone to smooth, uniform colors, perfect for those seeking a simpler aesthetic.

Ascale, a brand belonging to TAU Cerámica, offers polished and matte finishes in 12 mm and 20 mm. It is the most affordable of the three. In addition to common shades such as white, cream, gray, and black, it stands out for offering vibrant colors not found in other brands.

Neolith offers polished and matte finishes in 3 mm, 6 mm, 12 mm, and 20 mm. It’s positioned in the mid-range price point, more expensive than Ascale but more affordable than Dekton. It features a balanced selection of whites, creams, and darker tones.

Dekton is one of Cosentino’s registered brands, just like Silestone, and is available in polished and matte finishes in 0.4 mm, 8 mm, 12 mm, and 20 mm. It is the most premium brand, and therefore the most expensive. Its catalog stands out for elegant colors, specially its wide variety of white and cream tones.
